Is it necessary to integrate social media in the classroom?

I know what my granny's answer will be to this question and it is not such a positive one, but let’s faces it we are living in the 21st century. I know we all have heard that little sentence, but it is the truth. Technology is here to stay and there is nothing we can do about it. So we might as well just use it to improve our lives. I know social media in a classroom, doesn't sound right but according to me it holds the key to success. If we use social media to make students more involved in a subject, it can only have a great outcome. The question is how do we do it? It is easy we can use social media to post educational videos about a subject on social media which can help children when, I the teacher am not around. Social media can also be used as a virtual discussion group for exams, tests etc. This helps teachers to be better teachers, because by using social media the teacher uses a platform to teach students in a fun and interesting way. It also helps the teacher to be a modern teacher, who keeps up with the latest trends. This helps children because they will be more willing to learn and to participate in class, which will lead to better marks in the long run.

  1. I agree 100% that it will help the teacher to be a better teacher and the learners can then also relate more to the teacher. Your on the point!
